Types of Inspections:

  • Initial Infrared & Mold Inspection: Determines if an amplified mold condition exist in the complete building. The use of Infrared cameras and other equipment are used to locate hidden moisture and moisture intrusion. Nonviable air samples, swab, tape lift, Bulk, Dust collection or other approved methods of sample collections are used  to be analyzed by AIHA approved labs. Laboratory analysis is used to support theory conditions noted.
  • Infrared & Mold Assessment : Complete assessment of accessible areas of the entire building. This Inspection includes Building floor plan with locations of moisture, stains, visible mold, and locations of sampling. Nonviable air samples, swab, tape lift, Bulk, Dust collection or other approved methods of sampling are used to collect sufficient evidence and information to create a Recommended Remediation protocol substantially following Industry standards provided by ANSI/IICRC S520-2008, and the NADCA ACR 2006.
  • Post-Ceaning Inspection: Determines if surface cleaning of accessible substrates was effective.
  • Post Remediation Verification: Determines if the Mold Remediation Company cleaned and removed fungal colonization within containment area specified. Verification of proper techniques were used and industry standards were followed during clean up. Inspector will visually inspect and use infrared to locate any moisture left in building materials or structure. Nonviable air sampling, ATP and other collection method may be used to verify the Remediation attempts were affective.
  • Mold Sampling: Mold samples are collected as needed to confirm or deny the hypothesis of fungal ecology. We use a variety of collection devices including Swab, Bulk, Allergenco D Posi-Track spore traps and Augar plates. The type of collection will depend on the results needed. Samples can be cultured to determine the species or just counted to determine the fungal load. All samples are analyzed by qualified laboratories to eliminate any conflict of interest.
  • ATP (adenosine triphosphate) Sampling: Hygiena, a product of bio-reveal is a state of the art, real-time, biological detection system designed to provide instant results for bio-contamination testing on surfaces or in liquids. bio-reveal applications are diverse and range from providing users with the instant capability of testing for mold and bacteria on surfaces as part of water damage loss evaluations (IICRC S500 and S520), IAQ and industrial hygiene evaluations, bacteria outbreak investigations as well as being an ideal tool for performing Post Remediation Verification (PRV) testing for mold and bacteria remediation projects.  bio-reveal is an extremely sensitive detection system and can indicate the presence of not only dangerous mold and bacterial organisms but somatic materials and bio-films as well, which are also problematic and are not addressed or detected through traditional environmental testing methods, such as using culturing or air sampling techniques. Information provided by http://www.bio-reveal.com/atp%20testing.html
  • Bacteria Sampling: Several method are used for this type of sampling. The use of Via-Cell, sponge swab or auger plates can be used for sample collection, the location and conditions may determine the best application.
  • ERMI/ARMI The ELISA method of dust collect is used to determine the moldiness of your home and an EPA approved index. This is a DNA analysis of the mold in dwelling to determine if your home is likely to become impacted with mold.
  • Allergen Sampling: This inspection is performed using the ELISA method to analyzed  for Mouse, Cat, Dog, Dust Mite, and Cockroach conditions that exceed acceptable threshold values.

Inspection Tools:

The Inspector will use specialized tools to inspect the structure and property . All tools are approved for use in Environmental Site Assessment

                                   video

The use of recommended assessment  tools and training will assure proper evaluation of dwelling is performed.

Scope of Microbial Sampling:

The purpose of microbial sampling is to gather sufficient controlled microbial collection samples to determine if an unusual condition exists in the dwelling or structure and verify visual findings . The samples must be properly collected, documented and the use of a chain of custody is needed for valid analysis. Air sampling is needed to determine the mold amplification and mold fragments  in the breathable air within the structure.

(Nonviable) Air Sampling:

Air sampling is performed by using a vacuum pump to draw a specific amount of air through a spore trap and into the tubing and out the pump. HISFC uses Micro 5 (Environmental Monitoring Systems) Spore traps designed for 5 liters of air for 5 minutes under normal conditions or Zefron Air-O-Cell Spore traps designed for 15 liters of air for 10 minutes under normal conditions.

Mold Spore Traps: Spore Traps work by using a vacuum pump to draw breathable air through the spore trap, impacting the mold spores and hyphae onto a treated slide for laboratory analysis.                                                                                                     pump     IAQ PUMP                   aoc     AIR-O-CELL

Wall Check Air Sampling: Wall check is a tube type device attached to a spore trap. Then a hole is drilled into a wall or the use of a wall outlet opening as to allow the wall check tube to enter wall cavity. Interior wall air samples will reveal mold spore contamination within the wall.                                                                                                                                                                             tube

Carpet Sampling: The spore trap is designed for sampling carpeted areas and tells the history of contamination.                                                                       car

Swab Sampling: Swab Sampling is used to sample visible contamination on any surface. The sample is used to determine the type of growth on surface at time of inspection or if cleaning was effective                                                                                                                                       006_cultur_swabs.

Bio Tape Sampling: Bio Tape Sampling is used to sample visible contamination on any flat surface. The sample is used to determine the type of growth on surface at time of inspection or if cleaning was effective.                                                                                                                                bt0025tapesmall

Dust Collector Sampling: Dust Collector Sampling is a method of collecting small amounts of dust from dwelling for several types of analysis. The sample can be used to determine how your home rates on the EPA  moldiness index. This type of sampling can be used for DNA analysis.
